Had to share...

I just had to share this story. Joey & I have been anxiously awaiting Jack's 2nd birthday party. It is at the Tallassee pool and there is an ongoing joke about Joey doing a CANNONBALL and reliving his Tiger Sharks days. Well, the other day I received a message from Leigh Anne, my sister-in-law, and she said that she just had to call and tell me that she had given Georgia Anne, my niece and Jack (and Daniel's) sister, the option to send one invitation out. So...drum roll please...Georgia Anne picked MR. JOE & MRS. ALUNDA (Joey's parents). hahahaha. I know this may not seem so funny to you, but I think it is pretty funny. And very sweet!

Joey's trip to Greenville, Mississippi

Joey is away for Gin School this week in Greenville, MS. I was hoping to be able to take the voyage with him, but my work schedule prevented it. There isn't much going on there, but some casinos, but there is one thing, or shall I say one place, that I wish I could have been. And, that is Doe's Eat Place. Joey was introduced to this place some years back and he and I stopped here before going to Tunica for Valentine's Day one year. Let me tell you, I have never seen steak as large as the ones served here. And, they have the best tamales. Doe's Eat Place is located in a very interesting building (trust me, you just have to be there to understand what I mean), but the food is some of the best you'll ever have! If you're ever in the area, I highly recommend that you eat here and if you won't take my word, just take Alton Brown's - he featured Doe's on his Feasting on Asphalt Series.

Please support the Alabama Scenic River Trail

Please check out this article on www.tallasseetimes.com about needed fuel stops along the Alabama River.

Fuel Along the Alabama Scenic River Trail

by Glenn Dean

When someone thinks of a river trail, they think of canoes and kayaks.

Alabama is blessed with more navigable waterways than any other state in the USA. When our River Trail was conceived it was decided that it should be open to power boats as well, since most of the trail is navigable.

In order for powerboats to use the trail, fuel must be made available at intervals that will allow the average small boat to make it safely. The Trail has been working hard to reestablish gas at City Marina in Selma.

City Marina sold gasoline for many years , until they had problems with their pump and lost their license...

All for one...and ONE FOR ALL!

Thank you to my brother, Michael Butler, and WTLS for the fabulous Alabama Shakespeare Festival tickets for the production of The Three Musketeers. Joey and I had a lot of fun watching this play. I think we all take for granted how blessed we are to have such a nice place as ASF near us. I would recommend you go see The Three Musketeers, but the last show was Sunday night when we saw it. So, on that note, I encourage you to go see another play or musical! I'm planning on going to see something in the very near future.

Fun in the Sun

Saturday afternoon, Joey & I went to his parents' house and went swimming with Michael, Leigh Anne, Georgia Anne, Jack and Daniel. Joey asked me, "Do you think you can do a flip off of the diving board?" He knows I can't turn down a dare. He flipped several times before I decided to join the fun. I did twice (somewhat). Here are some pictures from the fun. Afterwards we ate hotdogs and french fries and went to Brittan's last softball game.

Fun with Marshall

I am a little behind on the blogging, but I did want to talk about our weekend of fun with Marshall. Marshall is our nephew and his mom's 10 year class reunion was May 30th so Joey & I got to spend some time with Marshall. It was a beautiful day so Marshall was able to water the garden with Uncle Joey. (Pictures of this will be uploaded and shared soon.) Of course, he comes in with dirt in his hair, in between wrinkles, everywhere! haha. After gardening and a good bath, we headed over to the Butler's home where Georgia Anne, Jack, & Daniel provided much entertainment for Marshall. We had dinner where we make shifted a high chair (Georgia Anne's creation) with an Elmo chair. We stayed until around 9:30 p.m. or so and headed home where we all piled into bed together. It was a lot of fun. We can't wait for another weekend of fun with Marshall!

Work

Joey & I are both totally happy with not only our new life together, but our professional lives as well.  We both are so happy with our careers. Joey absolutely loves working for Milstead Farm Group and I feel the same way about Dabwood Realty, Inc. (and my part time jobs at Ann Taylor, Scarborough & Weldon, LLC and WTLS.)  We've both been blessed with wonderful bosses and great people to work with.  I know this may sound like a weird thing to blog about, but its very rare that people really ENJOY what they do! So I had to share. And, I  found the most wonderful quote that I wanted to share:

The more I want to get something done, the less I call it work. -Richard Bach
