More Tea Pictures

My sister-in-law, Leigh Anne took some pictures at my bridal tea that I had not posted earlier and I thought I would share them.

Joey and J.W. have known each other for most of their lives. Joey meet J.W. at the Christmas tree farm that their dads owned together. Joey remembers seeing J.W.'s "white head" run all around the Christmas tree farm doing everything that Joey and Shep (J.W.'s older brother) did.

There was a trailer on the farm that had hay in the back so that customers could ride in the back and go throughout the farm. Well, Joey and Shep would always hide in the trees and jump out when the trailer would come by and jump on the back while it was still moving. J.W. was much younger and would watch so decided that he would do this. So, he did. However, things didn't work out the way that he had intended. He jumped and missed and his shirt got caught on a hook on the trailer and he was drug behind. Needless to say, no more jumping on the trailer!

We look forward to spending our wedding day with J.W. (and Shep!)

Lowcountry Foodie

I'm going to be an Aunt, again!

I guess I won't be an Aunt again since I am technically already an Aunt, but you get my point! Michael & Leigh Anne are having another little boy! His name will be Daniel Dawson. I can't wait! ! Today, Leigh Anne's friends are hosting a diaper shower for her. The ultrasound showed him and I think he looks like Jack. What do you think? :)

Friends

As you all probably know, I love music! I love it! I just updated our playlist and added a new song, it is by Tracy Lawrence. The lyrics are so pretty and true. I always remember my dad telling me when I was younger if you can count the number of your true friends on one hand, then you have been blessed. And, how this is so true. Joey & I have been truly blessed with a number of "true" friends (and family which have also proven to be the best of friends) and I thank God for them each day. Netflix

For Valentine's Day, I got Joey Netflix. I think I have messed around with our queue more than him. We have the basic package (1 dvd at a time) and we watched our first netflix movie last night - Midnight in the Garden of the Good and Evil. In January, I blogged about reading the book by Jim Berendt. It was so good and the movie was equally entertaining. Especially since Joey & I just visited Savannah on New Year's. It was neat to see some of the places we had walked by so many times during our stay. If you haven't read the book, or seen the movie, I highly recommend them, but there are some references that aren't suitable for children. If you haven't joined Netflix and you rent a lot of movies, I recommend you do! I am already anticipating the arrival of our next movie!!

On Sunday, February 15th, Mrs. McCaig (Leigh Anne's mother) hosted a tea at her home for me. Co-hostesses were Helen Burton, Sue Fomby, Peggy Little, Gayle Mason, Mary Carroll Payne, Debbie Whitaker and Julie Williams. Everything was beautiful! These ladies really worked hard.

All of the food was delicious and I couldn't even eat dinner that night b/c I had filled myself with so many goodies and punch! Here are some pictures from the tea.

Honeymoon!!

We've finally come to a decision on our honeymoon. We are working out the details, but have decided we will spend the majority of our stay in Venice, Italy and then take the train to Nice, France. We are so excited!! I found some information about each city and posted it below. I could go into more detail, but you get the drift!


Nice, France

Nice is located on the French Rivieria. Located along the Mediterranean Sea, Nice France features long promenades, pebbly beaches, and good weather. In town you’ll find picturesque buildings, art museums, and good hotels. Nice vacations were favored by aristocrats during the Victorian period. Today, Nice is a popular destination for a multitude of travelers, and offers a variety of things to do and see.


Venice, Italy

Venice is built on one hundred and seventeen small islands, and holds one hundred and fifty canals, connected by an amazing four hundred and nine bridges, of which only three cross the main canal. The area it covers is a mere 284 miles (458 kilometres).

Taylor Swift

If you're listening to the playlist on the blog, you are listening to Taylor Swift. I absolutely love her songs (and all of the lyrics!) The song playing now is Love Story. I also love Should've Said No and White Horse just to name a few. Taylor is only 19 and has written many of her songs. You can check out her Wikipedia page here. I just thought I'd share since I thought she had a neat story (attempting to get a record deal at the young age of 11) and I love her music!

Lots of stuff going on...

This week has been a busy one, for both of us. We've both been working our butts off! (Hence, why I haven't been so good at blogging much this week.) We haven't gotten much time to see each other. I guess that is what the weekends are for! This week, I also found so many nice, but COMFORTABLE shoes at Dillard's - they are having a HUGE sale so you need to go rack up - I got 5 pairs of shoes! (And for an amazing price!!!) Also, we went to Namedropper to pick out the flower girl and ring bearer outfits! They were very, very cute. Time is approaching and I can't wait for our big day - it will be here before we know it!

Wedding Traditions

I've been looking at some wedding traditions online because the meanings of these traditions are so interesting. I found my wedding dress several months ago, but am getting ready to go get fitted. I can't talk much about the details of my dress for obvious reasons (JOEY!), but I thought this was neat and wanted to share.

White Bridal Dresses

Wearing white also dates back to Victorian times when Queen Victoria abandoned the usual royal tradition of wearing a silver gown, instead choosing to wear white. Before that time brides simply wore their best gown, rather than a special wedding dress . The popularity of white can also be attributed to it symbolizing purity. White was also thought to ward off evil spirits.

Americans did not always believe white was traditional.During the Revolutionary War, some brides wore red to symbolize the independence the Colonists desired. Other brides wore purple, which represents honor and courage during the Civil War as a tribute to the dead.

Why the Third Finger, Left-hand?

In ancient times, it was believed there was a vein in the third finger of the left hand that ran directly to the heart. Thus, the ring being placed on that finger, denoted the strong connection of a heartfelt love and commitment to one another. Although during times of modern autopsy, this long held belief was found not to be so, the tradition continued to this day.

Medieval bridegrooms place the ring on three of the bride's fingers, in turn, to symbolize, God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. The ring then remained on the third finger and has become the customary ring finger for English-speaking cultures. In some European countries, the ring is worn on the left hand before marriage, and is moved to the right hand during the ceremony. However, in most European countries the ring is still worn on the brides left hand.

Animal Crossing: City Folk

If you've been following the blog, you know that Joey spoiled and ruined me by buying me a Wii for Christmas. He also bought me a game - Animal Crossing: City Folk. It is a "sim" game and I'm addicted. With that being said, this game is very interactive - if someone you know has this game, they can come to your town and you can go to theirs. So...I was wondering, does anyone have a wii? And, if so, do you have this game? lol. If you know anyone that does, please send them that way - I need to venture outside of my town and I need some visitors.
