Bill turns 1! Or, is it 7?

Bill's first birthday was November 15th. Joey surprised him with a t-bone steak. He loved it. Joey seared it for him. Here are a few pictures.

On This Day in History

Okay, so after my 30 days of blogging, I've got the blogging bug. It is addictive...I guess once you get used to doing something over and over and then you run out of topics, well, you look for some. I was reading a blog on blogging ideas. (Hahaha.) And, then I saw a suggestion for something that has happened in history. So, of course, I googled on this day in history. Here is what I found for today, November 28th. Pretty interesting!

Today in Television History:

1966 - The 200th episode of "The Andy Griffith Show" aired.
1997 - The final episode of "Beavis and Butt-head" aired on MTV.

Today in Music History:

1984 - Prince's "I Would Die 4 U" became the fourth single from the album "Purple Rain."
1956 - In Memphis, TN, Elvis Presley went to a matinee showing of "Love Me Tender."

Today in Sports History:

1977 - Larry Bird was introduced as "College Basketball's Secret Weapon" with a cover story in Sports Illustrated.

2002 - Michael Jordan (Washington Wizards) announced that he would retire for the third and final time at the end of the NBA season.

Today's Famous Birthdays:

Jon Stewart 1965
Anna Nicole Smith 1967

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!

I googled Thanksgiving and here is what the wikipedia article on Thanksgiving read. I thought I would share. I edited some of it out because it would have been too long to look at everything on the wikipedia page. I hope you enjoy your time with family and friends. We all have so much to be thankful for.

Thanksgiving Day, known informally as Turkey Day, is a harvest festival celebrated primarily in the United States and Canada. Thanksgiving was a holiday to express thankfulness, gratitude, and appreciation to God, family and friends for which all have been blessed of material possessions and relationships. Traditionally, it has been a time to give thanks for a bountiful harvest. This holiday has since moved away from its religious roots.[1]
In the United States, Thanksgiving Day falls on the fourth Thursday of November. In Canada, it is celebrated on the second Monday in October.
The precise historical origin of the holiday is disputed. Although Americans commonly believe that the first Thanksgiving happened in 1621, at Plymouth Plantation, in Massachusetts, there is strong evidence for earlier celebrations in Canada (1578) and by Spanish explorers in Florida (1565).
Thanksgiving Day is also celebrated in Leiden, in the Netherlands. A different holiday which uses the same name is celebrated at a similar time of year in the island of Grenada.

Currently, in the United States Thanksgiving is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November, and in Canada it is celebrated on the second Monday of October .
Thanksgiving in the United States was observed on various different dates throughout history. By the mid 20th century, the final Thursday in November had become the customary day of Thanksgiving in most U.S. states. It was not until December 26, 1941, however, that President Franklin D. Roosevelt, after pushing two years earlier to move the date earlier to give the country an economic boost, signed a bill into law with Congress, making Thanksgiving a national holiday and settling it to the fourth (but not final) Thursday in November.[8]
Thanksgiving in Canada did not have a fixed date until the late 19th century, at which time it was typically held on November 6. After the end of World War I, Thanksgiving Day and Remembrance Day ceremonies were usually held during the same week. To prevent the two holidays from clashing with one another, in 1957 the Canadian Parliament proclaimed Thanksgiving to be observed on its present date.[7]

Day 30-A DREAM FOR THE FUTURE

Our dream for the future is to build our "dream" house. We will probably wait 10 or 15 years before pursuing that though.

Well, this is the last day of the 30 days of blogging. I think I did pretty good. It wasn't consecutive, but it only took me a little over a month to complete. I hope you have enjoyed!

2) We're also planning on taking a trip at the beginning of the year with some friends.

3) In our jobs, we are hoping to continue on as we are

I'm sure the list will be added on very much as the new year approaches.

Day 27-MY WORST HABIT

My Worst Habit would probably be not "chewing" on my nails, but just picking at them. I gave up cigarettes a long time ago, so that was my only other vice.

As for Joey, I don't know of any bad habits he has.

I guess that is about it!

Day 15- YOUR DREAM HOUSE

We aren't sure exactly how our dream house will look, but we have a good idea. We plan to build it on some land that we have that is close to town, but still in the country.

Things we would want in our "dream house":
Detached Shop / Barn with office / guest bedroom and bath on top floor

We love wrap around porches, or at least front porches...Joey has always thought it was nice to see people sitting on their front porches. It is very welcoming.

We (Ummm, I, Kami) want some type of pool and also a hot tub of some sort. Actually, I think I want more of a hot tub than a pool and I don't want the above ground. I have a very great picture of what I want, but obviously that doesn't work well with our soil, so we will just have to see if this happens. haha.

DAY 14 - A NON FICTIONAL BOOK

I can not for the life of me find the title of this book, but it was a book on the Adam Walsh Story. It wasn't his father, John Walsh's Tears of Rage book because that wasn't published until 1997. I remember reading this book as a pre-teen. It seems like a little harsh material for a pre-teen, but I always remember the story of Adam Walsh and his abduction. At the time that I read this book, they still had not found his abductor / murderer. I always thought that it spoke volumes about the character of his father, John Walsh who didn't let his son die in vein, but worked towards creating America's Most Wanted, as well as, helping get several missing children's laws past. If anyone knows what book this is, please let me know the title. I've googled it and I can't find anything...only the Tears of Rage book that was published later. I think this book may have been authored by someone other than John Walsh.

DAY 13 - A FICTIONAL BOOK

This was my (Kami) favorite book as a child.

Thursday, October 28, 2010

Day 12- SOMETHING YOU ARE OCD ABOUT

I am OCD about strange things, like not hitting the reflectors when changing lanes on the Interstate, not stepping on cracks because I'm still scared I might break my mama's back, and raising my feet when going over railroad tracks to avoid bad luck.

Joey is more OCD about about repetitive noises / sounds.

Day 11-A PHOTO TAKEN OF YOU RECENTLY

I went to my photo files and picked the most recent date that a picture was taken of both Joey and I. It just happened to be at Tiffany Baker's 80's party. ENJOY!

Sunday, October 24, 2010

Day 9-A PHOTO YOU TOOK

Joey took the picture of me (He is a great photographer. This one is taken at the Tybee Island Lighthouse, we were waiting in line.)and I took the picture of him, the picture of him was taken on our honeymoon...this was our first night in Italy.

Day 8- A PHOTO THAT MAKES YOU ANGRY / SAD

Today's blog of 30 days of blogging was hard. I don't recall many photos that make me mad or sad that I have taken, but I am "stealing" this from my friend Angie's blog. You may have heard of this photo and it probably made you both mad and sad. It is graphic, so beware. It is of a starving child in Sudan being "watched" by a vulture that is awaiting the child's death.

DAY 7 - A PHOTO THAT MAKES YOU HAPPY

Well, I actually had this blog half way completed the night before, but I didn't have time to post yesterday. So I guess it won't be 30 (consecutive) days of blogging.

I couldn't decide which picture to choose, so I had to choose two. They are both from our wedding day. I don't think there are captions needed for either, they speak for themselves.

This was my quote that went in the high school annual when I graduated. It is still one of my favorites.

Monday, October 18, 2010

Day 4 - YOUR FAVORITE BOOK

Joey doesn't read much, but I love to read. If I had to choose one book, it would have to be Gone with the Wind. By the way, I have never seen the movie. It is on my Netflix queue so I hope to see it soon. I read this book last year and it took me about 2 months to finish.

DAY 1 - YOUR FAVORITE SONG

I would have to say that this is our favorite song. It was our first dance song. Joey and I first heard it during one of our "House" marathons. Every time I hear it, it gives me chills... My favorite lyrical line throughout the song is "I got a basket full of lemons and they all taste the same."

I do love the chorus, too, though: Love will come set me free, Love will come set me free, I do believe, Love will come set me free, I know it will, Love will come set me free, yes."
